Posters Overview
Fecal Occult Blood Testing (FOBT) is often used for detection of blood loss in the gastrointestinal (GI) tract from diseases or injuries for human and other mammals, such as canine. For lab animals, FOBT results offer indication for GI tract lesion caused by administered drugs. However, traditional chemical FOBTs are often qualitative, and meat-, vegetable-, or iron-containing diet can often cause false positive results. Immunochemical test kits, while offering better specificity and quantitative results, are only available for human testing, not for canine.
