BA-analyte1 is a kind of synthetic polypentose with polysulfonic groups, which can be used for anticoagulation in clinic. It is an ionic compound with strong hydrophilicity and high protein binding in biological matrix due to its multiple glucuronic acid and sulfonic acid groups. This leads to many challenges in bio-analysis such as peak tailing due to its multi-charge ions, weak retention in reversed-phase chromatography for its strong hydrophilicity, low recovery because of its high protein binding, and varying recovery in different tissue homogenates.
